The new home had an unfinished front courtyard with a large gum tree that dominated the area. The brief was to provide the ‘wow factor’ and some interest from the second storey as well as some shade from morning sun.
Our solution is a modern, low maintenance and eco friendly design. Raised beds provide some additional height for Pyrus Nivalis to shade the upper level windows, jasmine creepers trained to wires also soften the structure and produce an inviting aroma.
A stainless steel trough was built in front of the polished plaster retainer, the LED lighting dances onto the walls moving with the water. Almost all plants are water wise species serviced by sub-surface drip line. Recycled timber composite decking Ozdeck has been used for all stepping stone paths and bench seats to reduce ongoing maintenance.
